Research Project

Optimizing tuberculosis contact investigation in Nairobi – ‘TB Kwisha II’

Contact investigation is crucial for tuberculosis (TB) control, however only an estimated 20% of TB contacts complete evaluation in programmatic settings. Contextually relevant interventions that improve TB contact investigation are needed.

Research Significance

Our proposed study will be the first to determine the association between TB-related stigma and TB-contact investigation, identify TB-related stigma reduction interventions relevant to Kenya and similar contexts, and develop a digital story de-stigmatization intervention. We anticipate formally testing the impact of the digital story in a randomized trial to assess impact on TB contact investigation.
