Feasibility and acceptability of home blood pressure monitoring for women at risk of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy in Ghana
Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy are common, serious complications of pregnancies worldwide. Particularly in low-resource settings where barriers to frequent antenatal care are significant, home blood pressure monitoring in high risk women may allow for more frequent monitoring and earlier identification of warning signs. Our mixed methods study will explore the feasibility and acceptability of home blood pressure monitoring for women at risk of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Ghana.
Research Significance
Our findings will inform future interventions that utilize home blood pressure monitoring to enhance early detection of new or worsening hypertension in high risk pregnancies in resource-limited settings, leading to subsequent improvements in maternal and neonatal outcomes.
