Research Project
Implementation of OLA in Peru
My research is focused on HIV diagnostics. This time I am working on HIV resistance test implementation. Since I met the technology developed by UW based on the Oligonucleotide Ligation Assay in the laboratory of Lisa Frenkel at SCRI, I fell in love with it. Now Lisa and her team are helping me to implement it in Peru.
Research Significance
It is important because HIV/AIDS is an epidemic that affects poor and vulnerable people and testing costs are often non-affordable, especially when resistance analysis needs to be performed. My research will implement a cheap, rapid and affordable test to study HIV resistance in Peru.
